If your new here, I’m assuming your thinking about starting a blog. I know first hand it can seem very intimidating. I am going to give you 11 easy steps to setup a blog using bluehost.
When I first decided to start a blog I did a ton of research. As you can imagine or experienced yourself you fall into a rabbit hole really fast. Researching how to start a blog then getting it setup can seem overwhelming before you even start blogging.
Since you don’t have any experience I want to show you how easy it is to setup a blog using Bluehost.
When I setup my first blog I was a new mom trying to take care of my newborn. Baby wearing her while researching online and trying to figure it all out. It can feel like an obstacle course.
Then I found Bluehost. After many hours of research, Bluehost was the best choice for my blog’s hosting! This is the web hosting company I used to start my blog and I highly recommend them for beginners.
It was like someone opened the gates and sang “hallelujah”. It was so easy and exciting!
Bluehost makes it super easy to create a WordPress blog. They do most of the work for you! This is great, especially if you are not tech savvy.
Setup Is Easy
Today I want to share the steps to setup a blog with Bluehost. It is very budget friendly and only costs a few dollars a month.
I am going to walk you through the entire process step by step. I suggest leaving this blog open while you walk through your setup so you know exactly what to do. This should only take you around fifteen minutes.
I also want to let you know if you purchase a web hosting package through my referral link, I will earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Benefits to using Bluehost:
- Bluehost gives a FREE domain name for an entire year when you purchase a 12-month Bluehost plan. That is a $15 value, who doesn’t love free stuff?
- Free SSL Certificate Included
- 1 Click WordPress Install
- 24/7 Support
1. Choose your plan. Bluehost has a few options you will need to choose from twelve to thirty-six months. I just started with the basic plan. There is an option to upgrade if you feel you need to later down the road. To get the best price, select the 36-month plan. This is the most cost efficient and you don’t have to renew your blog every year. If you aren’t sure at least select the 12-month plan then you will still get the FREE domain name.
2. I didn’t find the extra options were necessary, so I didn’t sign up for them.
3. I would select domain privacy protection because it keeps your personal information private.
4. Select your domain name (your website name). Choose a name that aligns with your niche or you could use your personal name.
5. Then check your email. Bluehost will send you a welcome email confirming account and FTP information.
6. Create your password. Don’t forget to store it somewhere safe so you don’t lose it.
7. Next step will be to connect WordPress. Bluehost is so amazing after you setup your hosting account WordPress is automatically installed. Easy peasy.
8. Pick your website theme. This is the look and layout of your website. I suggest using one of the free themes to start that WordPress offers. Later on you can always update your theme to a paid version if you want. Everything will then be installed for you. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
9. Click on the Start Building button. Decide whether this site will be for business or personal use.
10. You can manage WordPress plugins and blog posts/pages.
11. Decide on a site title and description here. You can fill it in or leave it blank for now. You can always come back to this later.
Once WordPress and Bluehost are done connecting everything, just click the button that says Log in to WordPress.
There you go! You’ve officially set up your blog. 11 steps is all it took.
I suggest spending some time getting familiar with the dashboard in WordPress. Check out each section to understand your options available.
Congratulations on setting up your blog with Bluehost. Now go write some great content and share it with the world.
