Saving money sounds nice however sometimes it can be hard. You really have to evaluate where you spend your money before you can implement ways to save some of it. Fun things you can buy second hand to save money. Being creative with ways to save can help your bank account grow.
In today’s society people get in a trance when it comes to purchasing new things. It’s so easy to swipe your card then think about paying it later. The newness wears off and you are still paying for your purchase.
I’m all about saving money. There are a lot of things you can purchase used to save money. I’m a big fan of buying secondhand items because I work hard for my money and don’t want to waste it. Buying secondhand has become a way for me to save money because it’s a fraction of the cost of the new item.
I even
buy and sell secondhand items all the time. If you’re wondering what to buy
second hand please continue to read this blog.
Clothes
Finding used clothes is one of the easiest ways to save money. I’d prefer
thrift stores and secondhand consignment stores or garage sales to finding
everyday clothes for myself and my children.
Children
go through clothes so fast either they stain them, get holes or they outgrow
then. Think about it if you bought a pair of pants for $15 brand new you could
buy several outfits for $15.00 second hand.
Some people think when you say second hand or used they think gross or dirty and
that is furthest from the truth. Sometimes you can find new with tag items at a
secondhand store. There are a lot of options to choose from whether it be a
thrift store, consignment store, garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, facebook
marketplace, craigslist, eBay and poshmark.
If you’re interested in online shopping I have a discount code for you on
Poshmark (TNGUMI). If you’d like to sign
up you will receive $10.00 to use towards a purchase. Who doesn’t love free
money to buy stuff? You can sell some of your old clothes, household goods or children’s
clothes, then you can buy more stuff with the money you make.
Jewelry
Purchasing fine jewelry, diamonds, gold, or silver is another great thing to buy secondhand. You can even purchase a diamond ring for an engagement second hand for a fraction of the cost.
If you like vintage or antique pieces you can find a ton of different really cool things at different local estate sales, flea markets or online stores like ebay or etsy.
Baby items
Babies grow superfast and outgrow their clothes before they even have a chance to wear them. Babies spit up or have diaper blow outs then their clothes get stained.
Baby gear is another great way to save some serious cash. You can purchase most things your need second hand. Make sure if you buy anything used for the baby that you check online to ensure there are no recall’s on the item. Baby’s safety should always be first.
You can score some really nice things at garage sales for baby items and pay only a small amount of money compared to what the full price would be if you bought it new.
You can check your local facebook marketplace or local baby consignment stores to find some really cool things and sometimes they’re still new with tags or in the package.
Toys
Toy’s purchased at full price can be very expensive. Have you ever bought your
child a bunch of new toys and within a week they don’t play with them? Children
lose interest in toys very quickly as they grow and develop and move onto other
things. Buying toys secondhand can be a huge money saver.
Then when your child is done with the toys you can either try to resell them or re-donate them to a local shelter, charity or the thrift store where you purchased them.
Anything that you do purchase used for toys can be wiped down with dish soap and water then sanitizer.
Furniture
Furnishing a new home can be very expensive. Even if you get bored with your home décor and just want a new look it can add up pretty fast.
You can find some real deals, some people don’t even use their furniture and they donate it to a thrift store.
You can find some really neat items at a garage sale or the local thrift store. One of kind items are something fun to find and decorate your home with.
If
you don’t have any money you could ask your family your friends if they have
any item’s they can give you for furniture it’s still secondhand and it’s free.
It’s great because they get rid of stuff their not using and you get stuff that
you need.
Cars
Everyone knows that cars depreciate significantly once you drive them off the
lot they do not hold their resale value. Buying a used car is a better
investment than buying a new car.
Buying a new car may not necessarily mean that the car is more valuable. There are plenty of out there that you can pay cash for and they are very reliable.
Insurance rates tend to be higher on newer vehicles. Of course, year, make, model and the area you live in factors into your insurance rates too. Older cars most likely will be cheaper on insurance.
Just make sure you do your research and thoroughly check the vehicle out before you purchase it to make sure there’s nothing wrong with it.
Not
having car payments can save you a significant amount of money every month. Too
many people have car payments they cannot afford. Pay cash for a car and save
the money to use for other things like a family vacation or towards some investments,
the future you will thank you.
Kitchen gadgets
Have you ever tried to buy a new mixer or blender to find out how expensive it is? Kitchen appliances or gadgets can be very expensive.
You can purchase a used stove from someone doing a kitchen remodel. It may not be new but it will be new to you.
Always check out your nearby Goodwill, Salvation Army any secondhand store garage sales Facebook marketplace people sell kitchen gadgets or appliances for a fraction of the cost of what new is. There are so many things that you can purchase second hand and save you money.
Always do your research and price compare if it more financially beneficial to purchase the item used instead of new.
